Artistry In Glass :: JEWELRY :: ART CLAY SILVER

ART CLAY SILVER

Art Clay Silver is a pliable, aqueous (water based) clay that transforms into 99.9% silver when fired at the correct temperatures. It is made of fine, micron-sized particles of silver, water and non-toxic organic binders. When fired at the proper temperatures, the organic binders burn off leaving pure silver.

Free-formed pieces can easily be made by rolling, pressing into molds, texturing with stamps, natural leaves and other materials, sculpted using traditional tools or free formed by hand.

Except for the Art Clay Silver basic series, all other products shrink approximately 8 - 9% when fired. Smaller projects can be fired using a Butane torch. After firing, the silver will have a white, oxidized surface that can be polished with a fine wire brush, wet-dry sandpaper and polishing compound, or by tumbling.

Maximum firing temperatures for 650 Series:       Art Clay Silver
780 C / 1436 F for 5 minutes
750 C / 1382 F for 10 minutes
700 C / 1292 F for 15 minutes
650 C / 1202 F for 30 minutes

Maximum firing temperatures for Basic Series:
870 C / 1598 F for 10 minutes
800 C / 1472 F for 30 minutes

Maximun firing temperatures for ST Series:
800 C / 1472 F for 30 minutes

Maximun firing temperatures for Gold Clay Series:
990 C / 1814 F for 60 minutes

For detailed information, please consult the directions included in each series package.
